New Ugu Sports Centre Print

After all the hype around new stadiums throughout South Africa, we thought we would remind everyone that we have our very own new stadium to be proud of.  Albeit our stadium (which was also granted FIFA Accreditation) is not as "major" as those in the "big cities" our sporting facility is a fantastic asset for our area.

In addition to having two football pitches, this facility also boasts 12 netball/basketball courts, a huge indoor centre, beautiful landscaping and extensive parking.

Makes one think of how much potential we have, not only to develop local sporting disciplines, but also to take advantage of some wonderful opportunities to promote Sport Tourism.

Community caring about Margate Print

These community members were seen recovering and replacing plants after a pot was broken in the main street over the weekend. Well done Gary Cosh, Manie Roodt, Corrie from the MBA and Jan and Sipho from Seabrook for caring enough to fix the problem immediately.

Proud Moment for South Africa Print

It was once again a proud moment for South Africa when Louis Oosthuizen held up The Open Golf Championship trophy yesterday.  He led from the beginning of the 4 day competition thrilling the audience on more than one occasion as he held his nerve, and at the end during the prize giving ceremony, proudly wished Madiba a very Happy Birthday.

Sardines on Margate Beach Print

Around 7 a.m. this morning Sardine Fever erupted on a stunning Margate Beach as netters hauled in tons of Sardines in perfect weather.  The excitement that these little silver fish cause is amazing and something to be witnessed first hand.  The sand became a cinema for both locals and holiday makers as they sat on buckets watching what the experts (the fishing fraternity) predict may just be the start of a sardine extravaganza over the next month.

We were there to witness the excitement.
