This event brought thousands of biker enthusiast and holiday makers to Margate over the 4 day period. It was reported that an estimated 20 000 motorcycles visited Margate this time, and around 2 760 bikes participated in the mass parade that started at Shelly Centre on Sunday.Restaurants, accommodation establishments, pubs and clubs reported excellent performance however, others did not experience the same as the beachfront. This was the fourth year running in Margate and we can't wait for next year's event.
We extend our sincere thanks to one and all for ensuring the success of this renowned tourism event in Margate.
Feedback emanating from the business community of Margate is that some experienced a late but better than expected season. Most accommodation establishments reported shorter booking at a time but very good occupancy rate throughout.
In 1980, local business people rallied together to form the Margate Business Association (MBA) in an endeavor to make Margate a better place, not only for the residents but also for the many people who have chosen to make Margate their holiday destination. Our Association is fully aware that the success of our region from a business point of view is not measured on the performance of only a few successful business people, but on the combined efforts of all participants.
MARGATE BUSINESS ASSOCIATION WOULD LIKE TO SAY THANK YOU!
With the Municipal strike finally over, the MBA would like to thank those people and businesses who took the time and effort to assist in keeping Margate Clean.
